Things to do in Boston this Holiday Season
Boston is the capital
and the largest city in the state of Massachusetts. Founded in 1630, it is one
of the oldest cities in the country. Clear blue sunny sky makes way for the
glittering city lights at night which turn the whole city into a vibrant
entity. Located by the city is the Massachusetts Bay making Boston even more
beautiful. A city rich is history and culture, you’ll never run out of places to visit or things to do in Boston ma.
One of the very first
things to be included in your things to
see in Boston list are the buildings with crazy funky architecture. Some
of the most celebrated ones are The Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Ray
and Maria Stata Center, A stairwell at the Brutalist landmark, Trinity Church,
MIT’s Kresge Auditorium and The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.
Museum of Fine Arts,
consisting of more than 450,000 pieces of art is the fourth largest museum in
the country. Founded in 1870, its exquisite collection comprises of many
delicate pieces of Chinese paintings, Egyptian artifacts, French impressionist
and many more. Viewing great art is pretty soothing and adds value to our
knowledge and wisdom. The only thing which can be counted as better than or
equal to viewing great pieces of art is viewing bad pieces of art. The city of
Boston allows you to do just that. This one definitely goes in the fun things to do in Boston list. MOBA
or Museum of Bad Art is one of those places that presents you with the unique
opportunity of viewing and appreciating (or not) bad art. Founded in 1994, the
pieces displayed there are chosen only if they meet certain requirements. The
paintings must be original with significant flaws. It is also important that
they are not botched up intentionally. Some of their most celebrated ones are Lucy in the Field with Flowers, Blue Tango, The Better
to See You, My Dear and Spewing Rubik’s Cubes.
After a few days, when
you’re done with hopping-around at all the hot-spots of the city and wondering what else to do in Boston, you’ll be delighted to find that there are a few
more lesser-known gems for you to discover. Spend a few quiet moments in
solitude at the serene lush park near Beacon Street with city views; go for a
gondola ride on the Charles River and enjoy the golden sunset with your loved
ones; or visit the Weeks Footbridge on a full-moon night with your beloved for
a free Tango lesson organized by the Boston Tango Society. Book lovers can
spend a few wonderful hours browsing through the collection of books at the
Lucy Parsons Center- an anarchist bookstore run exclusively by volunteers. One
more fun thing for you to do in Boston is to walk around
inside a giant gorgeous stained glass globe situated at the Mary Baker Eddy
Library.
